Springspeed Festival 5th to 7th May 2007 - Round 1 for NAST

Hello boys and girls and welcome to a new season of NAST drag racing, it soon comes around douesn't it?

Driving to the track I had mixed feelings about the new NAST ET Street and Modified class, yes I do think it's the way to go, but would it all go to plan? As it turned out I had no need to worry, it went a treat, in qualifying how many times did the pole spot change - Bev Riley, Pete Harison, Dave Jones (who by the way got right into it) well done Dave for running two 9's.

I would like to welcome Steve Poridge on his Buell and his crew man Dave, although I can't help it but to call them Dave and Dave - two funny guys. I would also like to welcome Shaun Rodman, nice to see you running, top man.

Well done to Wendy for that nice 8.702 - Good Girl.

'Bike of the Meeting' was Chris Mott's V Rod Top Gas bike, I like it a lot, it's well put together and much lighter (painted in grey primer at present), a bit like his wife Eve - well done Chris and Eve.

As my bike was also painted in grey primer (ran out of time to paint) we said we would run together, a bit like '2lane black top' with the 55 Chev. Chris sadly had a problem with his bike in the burn out area, it wouldn't rev so I did a solo pass. It turned out that Chris had left his balls in the bell mouths, now I know that squirrels bury their nuts etc.etc. still I bet he doesn't do that again.

When removed on the Sunday Chris ran a 9.55 at 142 mph a PB for Chris Wow really well done for that one.

Well done also to Duck who is back in the 8's.

We had two good days of qualifying - 5 runs in total.

Rain Race day, now how many dry days have we had? Around28 or 30 OH DEAR I said to myself.

Well done Don for the use of his new huge, marque/gazebo - it's now become the nerve centre for NAST, and official building for our site meetings on a Saturday night.

Thanks Don and thanks to every NAST member, top weekend, we can now look forward to the next meet at Pod where I know there will be three new members joining the ET class. I also intend to do a meeting in ET later in the season. Black Racer will be coming back out again, she is nearly ready to run again, with a new top end and paint job. I bet you can't guess what colour it will be - answers on the back of a £20 note please.

Take care everyone and spread the word, also if you have anything to say, or a funny story, or whatever, sent it in to RT via Lorna.

Cheers everybody

Leso
